Swisscom CEO Found Dead In Suspected Suicide

July 23 evening news, Switzerland's largest Telecommunications operator Swisscom Tuesday announced that its Germen nationals CEO Carsten Schloter was found dead at home near Freiburg and initial investigations suggest that he killed himself.


The company said the 49 years old Schlote's body are founded at his home near Freiburg on Tuesday morning. "The police initially determined that this was a case of suicide, the exact circumstances of the investigation are ongoing."
Swisscom said that, considering for Schlote familiy, they will not disclose more details about his death, and it is added that the company will be temporarily led by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer Urs Schaeppi. The company's chairman Hansueli Loosli is deeply saddened by the news.
Schlote aged 49, who is the father of three children, has a degree in business administration and information technology, fluent in French and English. He in joined Swisscom as CEO of Swisscom Mobile Swisscom in 2000. In 2006 he was promoted to CEO of the head office. Before his joining, worked for Mercedes and debitel in France and Germany.
In an interview in May this year, the Swiss newspaper "Schwei am Sonntag" interview. Schlote describes himself as a victim of modern communications, who is aways exhausted. He said that modern man is too easy to get lost in the flow of information. "I find myself more and more difficult to relax."
In Schlote's leadship, in 2007, Swisscom acquired the Intalian broadband network operator Fastweb, in response to weak growth in the domestic market.
